Youth
our commitment to our youth
Resurrection youth are involved in every aspect of the life of our congregation. They play with us, eat with us, pray with us, serve with us, and worship with us. Once they are old enough, they lead worship as acolytes, ushers, lectors, and musicians. Our youth lead as teachers for Sunday School and they help lead events for younger youth at church: late-overs, Wednesday night games, Vacation Bible School, and Easter morning activities.
Sunday school
IN-PERSON SUNDAY SCHOOL - SundayS at 10:20 am
Sunday school meets for children and youth ages three through high school September through May. Preschool and elementary ages learn through the rotation model of learning, whereby a single Bible story is learned for 4 weeks through different workshops: art, music, games, food, and video. Middle school students do a variety of activities, including some hands on mission work. Confirmation class is held Wednesday evenings 6:30-8 p.m. for middle school students who are enrolled in Confirmation. High school students meet in the Fireside Room for fellowship activities and to dig deep into the meaning of God's word working in our lives. They learn about current issues of faith and life: hunger, creation care, current events, and more. They also lead the games workshop for Sunday School students one time per month for grades 1-5.
annual youth events
Yearly events for our youth include late-overs, lock-ins, baking pies for Thanksgiving, serving at Feed My Starving Children and Simpson Shelter, Vacation Bible School, the Epiphany pageant, the Youth Recital and Arts Showcase, and serving at our Easter breakfast. Youth also have the opportunity to go to summer camp at Lake Wapogasset Lutheran Camp and many of our youth have gone to Lutheran Summer Music.
Youth Recital and Showcase
Each year our youth, from the youngest among us, to seniors in high school showcase their talents for our congregation. Our annual "youth recital and arts showcase" is a fundraiser, but it is also another example of the many ways in which we value and include youth in the life of our congregation. Students play piano, percussion, wind and string instruments. They sing, dance, do music, and act. The money raised from this event goes to help support students going to summer church camp at Lake Wapogasset Lutheran Bible Camp, and Lutheran Summer Music. If you are interested in participating in this fun event please contact Jill Westermeyer with questions!~
